Strike Out Cancer Tournament

The Strike Out Cancer Event is a very important day for Lockport baseball and softball. The tournament has taken place for the past 13 years to honor those individuals who have battled or are battling cancer. The event was originally inspired by The Mark Staehely Pediatric Cancer Foundation, which honors Mark Staehely, a young man who unfortunately lost his battle to pediatric brain cancer. We are honored and excited that our foundation is now able to be a part of this event. Strike Out Cancer is an all day tournament, with numerous baseball and softball games played, along with food, drinks, raffles, and fun! It is truly something that the community looks forward to each and every year. 

Each year, the players choose the name of someone who is battling or has battled cancer & put it on their jersey. Throughout his years at Lockport, Connor wore the number 2 with “Poppy” written on his jersey to honor his grandpa, who he lost to kidney cancer in 2019. 

This event is extremely personal and special to all who are involved, and it is now especially important to us. Connor played in this tournament in May of 2021 to honor someone who battled cancer, not knowing that in less than two months, he would be battling cancer too. 

We are so happy with all of the success that we were able to have with the Strike Out Cancer Events for 2022 and 2023. Strike Out Cancer is one of our favorite days of the year, and we look forward to seeing all of the amazing things the event will bring in the future.
